Most native French speakers get this one wrong - après que

If you ask most Francophones whether you should use the subjonctif or the indicatif after après que, they will almost all say "le subjonctif".

Though that is completely faux, can we really blame them, though? Even in English, we might think this pretentious sounding sentence below is wrong:

Whom did he marry?

It's interesting, because even though I know this is the right way to say it, many native English speakers still opt for the incorrect "Who did he marry?"

The same applies to learning French; if you use le subjonctif correctly with après que, people might just think you don't really understand it at all. 🤷🏻‍♂️
